Embracing Change: Discover the Power of the Season of Newness

Updated: Jul 5

The season that requires you to leave, your past acts, past trauma, and past spirits behind to embrace your God-given future.

Focus Scripture: Book of Ruth

Dear Crowned Daughter of God,

As we step into this the second half, yes, the second half of 2025, it is the season when the Lord is giving you another opportunity to take hold of your destiny (Roman 8:29).

Ruth is found to be a phenomenal example of a woman who knows how to embrace the new seasons in her life and move on from the past.

We meet her in the chapters of her own book written by the Prophet Samuel.

In Ruth Chapter 1, we meet Ruth in the middle of her trauma as a young widow. Having lost it all, her home, her country, her husband, her livelihood, she was left with a strip of dignity, her sister-in-law Orpah and her mother-in-law Naomi.

Ruth had lived her life as a daughter and wife, running her household and taking charge when her husband could no longer hold his post as head of the house until he passed on.

However, despite her experience, she kept going. I hold to the fact that no one can experience God and remain the same. We see Ruth being resident to the presence of God YHWH as she lived under the statutes, laws, and commandments of the God of her covering, Mahlon. So, she knew that there was a blessing in submitting to the ways of the Lord.

This posture positioned her for the crowning title of the 'virtuous woman'. When her new prospective husband met her he hadn't even been in her presence for a day and he had already deciphered her spirit. Ruth 3:11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

Virtuous in the Hebrew is hayil which is defined as strength, might, efficiency, wealth, army

Virtue is what Ruth needed to successfully embrace the new season God had her called into with her new husband BUT before we get there, here's what she had to face:

1. The spirits from the past females in her bloodline. The spirits of the Moabitess women. Her great, great, great, great, grandmother and grandaunts were incestuous virgins who did not know how to trust God. Lot's daughters lacked faith and committed incest through deception for the sake of posterity (Gen 19: 37-38).

2. She had to forget the recent trauma from the loss of her lover and friend, Mahlon, the loss of her people and her land.

3. Ruth gave up her gods and customs for YHWH. Ruth 1: 6 “And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:”

Now I have always been baffled by why God chose a 'tainted' bloodline to bring forth Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit gave me a glimpse of the heart of Ruth and then I heard in the Spirit: "This is why....., because she only had one agenda and that was to honour my ways and bring glory to my Name". You see, Ruth was ready to take on anything for the sake of honouring the Lord and His servant Naomi. Ruth embraced every instruction. Her heart was a mirror of her husband Boaz, who also had no ulterior motive but to be a king's-man redeemer in every sense of the word.

Though Ruth faced disappointment, she was neither defined nor deterred by it. Instead of dwelling on the past, she allowed it to prepare her for what lay ahead—and chose to let go of yesterday to fully embrace her tomorrow.

I want to encourage you to be intentional about your future and let go of your past. This may be sabotaging your life and closing the door to future relationships, impacting your marriage, children, friends, business, creativity, and the ability to be free and enjoy your God-given life.

Pray with Me Over Your Life

Let us take a moment to reflect and seek inspiration for our lives. Join me in this prayer:

Heavenly Father,

  • I come before you with an open heart, seeking guidance and strength. Lord Jesus, I thank you for my new season and the gifts and joy it holds for me! Isaiah 43:19

  • Help me to recognize my potential and to embrace the journey ahead. Therefore, remove the fingerprints left on me from my past trauma that's negatively impacting my life and robbing me of my present. The trauma took my past but it cannot take my future.

  • Grant me wisdom to make choices that align with your purpose. Therefore, arise in my life and cause my eyes to behold and my life to embrace the good of the Lord for me in the Land of the Living.

  • Fill me with the courage to face challenges and to overcome obstacles.

  • Use me to be a source of light and inspiration to others.

  • Guide my steps and bless my endeavours, as I strive to fulfil my destiny.

For the waiting singles: Lord as you teach me your ways, I thank you for my husband wherever he is. Let my life be a blessing to him.

For the satisfied and single (whether divorced or widowed): Lord teach me your ways and

For the married: Lord as you teach me your ways, I thank you for my husband, teach me how to serve him and enrich his walk with you.

Amen.

Remember, every day is a new opportunity to grow, learn, and inspire others. Stay hopeful and keep moving forward!

You are always loved,

Pastor Wellington
